According to a Radio NZ article and collaborated by a Fiji Times article, Fiji is on the verge of establishing a oil refinery provided if the feasibility studies give clearance, to the project commissioned by a Dubai Petroleum company currently in discussions with the Interim Government. Fiji Live article describes the proposal as a comprehensive vision for a Sea port complex in Fiji; using the expertise of Dubai Ports World, an industry heavy weight.
Another project publicized by a Fiji Times article through approval from Fiji Trade and Investment Board (FTIB)shows South Korea's interest in Bio-Fuel projects in Fiji.
Undoubtedly these projects exceed any aid programs from Australia, E.U or New Zealand by an embarassing margin. The historic Aid programs provided by these nations are welcome but, what has been a rising concern for several decades is that, these aid programs seldom include technology transfers.
