The Veneer of Accountability in Fiji Government Accounts- Review of 2018 Audit Report Fiji Parliament- Tues. 8th Feb. 2022

The order paper for Tuesday 8th  February 2022 (posted below)

The review of the 2018 Audit Report for Government Commercial Companies, Commercial Statutory Authorities and other Entities was an eye opener into the manner where the Auditor General's report are scrutinized.

The Office of the Auditor General is an Independent office that provides an oversight role in Government accounts.

The Government had instigated a Commission of Inquiry into the Office of the Auditor General. The credibility of the Commission Chairman was raised by National Federation Party Leader.

Aseri Radrodro MP (SODELPA), a qualified and Chartered Accountant, whose scathing response outlined the breeches.

The Chair of the Public Accounts then raised a Point of Order (below) in a feeble attempt to limit the response by Radrodro to the Audit Report and erroneously questioned that; the delays in years for certain Commercial Companies and Commercial Statutory Authorities to table  their Audit Reports to Fiji Parliament; was not specifically mentioned in the 2018 Audit Report.

Radrodro then cites the references in the 2018 Audit Report, hoisting the Chairman on his Petard.
